I figured it out, it comes down to the fact that steam hijacks the controller input and gives the game a simulated steam controller output. And for those googling, it now also allows you to use ' Press X to save changes and exit' in options menus. The game can now recognize the controller. so I'm worried I'm missing something obvious.ĮDIT: Switch off xbox controller support in steam general controller settings, using big-picture mode. Am I supposed to leave the game in KB+M mode, and use my Xbox One controller through Steam? If doing that, there seems to be not a good default setting for browsing through abilities, panning the camera etc. When I then change to 'controller' input in the Xcom 2 interface settings, only very few buttons actually work and 'X' to save and exit options is one of the ones that don't. I can then mimic a keyboard + mouse, using keyboard + mouse control settings in Xcom 2. However, in order to enable a controller for this game, I need to activate settings in Steam that make my Xbox One controller configurable. I've hooked up my Xbox One controller (wirelessly) to my computer, and was hoping to make use of the recently added native controller support for Xcom 2.
